The Discovery’s fuel economy figures are below average for a vehicle that comes standard with a four-cylinder engine. With a towing capacity of 6,613 pounds, it beats X5, Q7 and XC90 The Discovery covers a distance of 120-ft before coming to a complete halt from 60 mph, while rivals like Q7 and X5 do the same at 117- and 116-ft respectively. The Volvo XC90 offers the slowest 0-60 mph and the X5 is the fastest with its larger 3.0-liter engine as standard. The Discovery and Q7 offer similar acceleration, despite Audi being less powerful. No doubt, the Discovery feels front-heavy while driving. The handling could have been better and the steering feel is negligible, requiring frequent corrections on the highways. With the Wade Mode, the water-fording capacity is improved and surely the competitors can’t beat it. The optional two-speed transfer case and a locking rear differential helps to take on the toughest roads. The adjustable air suspension and all-wheel-drive as standard are a boon for customers.
